The first round of the GT3 Cup by imSim Championship took place at the Vasco Sameiro circuit in Braga, a short but technical track with only a real long straight, which makes overtaking very difficult.
I went to Qualification with the certainty that I would fight for pole, because I saw by the pre-qualification that I would be among the fastest, and I managed to be the fastest with a margin of more than 4 tenths for the second placed, being quite happy because on this track starting at the front is always a big advantage.
Well, everything was prepared and the start for the first race could not have been better; I did the so-called cannon start and left the competition just over 1 second, because I knew that on this track and with this car I would have to manage the tires right from the first lap so that they would last the 25 minutes of the race and so it was, I started right away management and I was opening a small advantage nonetheless with every lap.
With the fights that took place behind me I ended the race with a little more than 8 seconds of advantage for the runner-up, in short a race without much history to be honest. As Ayrton Senna said, it was beard and hair, with pole and victory.
I managed to be the fastest from the first to the last lap of the race and I was never threatened, as the only tightest moments were overtaking the riders that I ended up doubling up with because they had problems during the race.
Inversion of grid for the top 10 for the second Race and in this change to the grid I was, once again, betrayed by the rFactor2 simulator and I didn't even start 🙁
Super disappointed once again, as I could have left Braga with the leadership in the Championship but, as in the Nurburgring, the possibility of a good result was removed from me and who knows what it will mean in the future.
It remains to continue the hard work and win everything until the end of the Championship, and I can’t think otherwise! A giant thanks to my sponsors and team that have given me a great help and motivation to continue in this very complicated moment.
See you in Portimão on the 8th of June for the 2nd race of the Championship.
